Our 12 chickens are only for laying...although one of them is kind of a jerk so she might be headed to the soup pot if she doesn't change her ways.  We have Australorps, Speckled Sussex, Golden Laced Wyandottes New Hampshires and Barred Rocks.  They all lay large brown eggs that are deIicious.  For the most part they are really friendly, goofy and very productive layers.
